Replacing Rocketseed: the alternatives and the migration, step by step

Rocketseed no longer fits? Discover the alternatives available — ATOM and other vendors — and how to migrate without interrupting your signatures.

Using Rocketseed and looking to replace it? Whether the reason is data residency, setup fees or the 50-employee threshold of its grid, this guide compares the options actually available — not just ATOM — and walks through the migration step by step.

In short: to replace Rocketseed, your options are ATOM Signatures (Canadian hosting, client-side add-in, single flat price), CodeTwo, Exclaimer, Letsignit, Signitic, WiseStamp, Opensense or Terminus, or Microsoft 365's native signature for a minimal need. Switching to ATOM takes a few steps and requires removing Rocketseed's mail flow configuration at cutover. For a detailed side-by-side, see ATOM vs Rocketseed.

What reasons lead teams to replace Rocketseed?

Outgoing email that goes through a third-party service, data residency, the legal framework, foreign-currency cost and the headcount threshold:

  • Outgoing email through a third-party service. Rocketseed applies the signature server-side: outgoing email goes through the vendor's service, which describes TLS-encrypted flow.
  • Data residency. The pages consulted do not publish the hosting region; it needs direct confirmation from the vendor.
  • Legal framework. An organization subject to PIPEDA, or depending on the province to laws such as Law 25, PIPA or PHIPA, needs to know where personal information resides and where email is routed.
  • Foreign-currency cost and setup fees. Payment in USD, GBP or EUR, headcount-based subscription and a one-time setup fee on top.
  • Headcount threshold. The public grid starts at 50 employees, which leaves small teams without a published price.

Alternatives to Rocketseed

Leaving Rocketseed doesn't automatically mean choosing ATOM: here are the options, honestly, and who each one suits.

  • ATOM Signatures. 100% Canadian hosting by default, strictly client-side architecture — email never leaves Microsoft 365 — and a single flat rate of CAD $1 per user per month, all-inclusive, banner campaigns included (up to 3 A/B variants, click statistics). Suits Canadian organizations for whom data residency and simple pricing outweigh CRM integrations. See ATOM pricing.
  • CodeTwo. A vendor based in Poland, with a hybrid architecture (server-side relay on Azure, or client-side add-in) and advanced marketing features (banners, click tracking, satisfaction surveys), billed in tiers in US dollars with a ten-license minimum. Suits an organization that needs CSAT surveys or coverage for unmanaged devices, and for whom GDPR, rather than a Canadian framework, is the main reference. See ATOM vs CodeTwo.
  • Exclaimer. A UK-based vendor with a broad marketing suite (banners, campaigns, CRM integrations), a 10-user minimum and tiered USD billing; a Canada hosting region exists but is not the default configuration. Fits an organization managing multiple international brands with complex CRM integrations. See the ATOM vs Exclaimer comparison.
  • Letsignit. A French platform, hosted 100% in Europe, combining a client-side add-in with an optional server-side SMTP connector, plus digital business card (vCard) and governed PowerPoint presentation offerings. Suits an organization whose priority is a full marketing-campaign platform, with no constraint around Canadian residency. See ATOM vs Letsignit.
  • Signitic. A French platform with a free plan for up to 19 users, then a paid tier starting at €1 per user per month with a 20-license minimum, hosted 100% in Europe, and which also covers Gmail, Google Workspace and Zoho Mail alongside Microsoft 365. Suits a small European team that prioritizes the lowest price or needs to cover several email platforms. See ATOM vs Signitic.
  • WiseStamp. A New York-based platform deployable client-side (Outlook add-in, Chrome extension), server-side or hybrid, with an AI designer, banner campaigns and tiers (Basic, Grow, Platform, Enterprise) billed from $19 per month plus $1 per employee per month. Suits a multi-brand organization, or one also on Google Workspace, that values SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications and for which Canadian hosting is not a requirement. See ATOM vs WiseStamp.
  • Opensense. A San Francisco platform deployable server-side, through an Outlook add-in or via the Gmail API, with banners, email tracking and integrations (directory, HR, CRM), priced from $1 to $5 per user per month with a $500 monthly minimum; data hosted in the United States by default, optional residency in Europe, Asia or Australia, SOC 2 Type II attestation. Suits a large organization that can absorb the monthly minimum, wants to link signature, email tracking and CRM, and for which US hosting is acceptable. See ATOM vs Opensense.
  • Terminus. Email signature marketing (Sigstr) built into an account-based marketing (ABM) platform, with banners that are dynamic by sender, recipient and lifecycle stage; Terminus merged into DemandScience in November 2024 and its signature product pages now redirect to DemandScience's site, with no public price. Suits a B2B marketing team that mainly wants an advertising channel in its employees' emails; confirm with the vendor that the offer is still sold on its own. See ATOM vs Terminus.
  • Microsoft 365's native signature and Exchange transport rules. Free and already included in your subscription, via the local Outlook signature or an Exchange transport rule, but with unreliable images, no fine-grained group targeting, manual maintenance and no signature in Sent Items with transport rules. Suits a very small team with a single, static signature, no logo and no targeting. See ATOM vs Microsoft 365's native signature.

Switching from Rocketseed to ATOM, step by step

  1. Take stock of your signature templates, targeting rules and banners in Rocketseed.
  2. Connect your Microsoft 365 tenant to ATOM Signatures: administrator consent, read-only access to the directory.
  3. Recreate your signatures in the ATOM editor with "Import HTML", then replace Rocketseed's dynamic fields with ATOM tokens (name, title, phone, etc.).
  4. Reproduce your targeting by Microsoft 365 groups, users and shared mailboxes.
  5. Deploy the ATOM add-in from the Microsoft 365 admin center, using the manifest URL generated in the Connections tab; allow up to 24 hours for propagation.
  6. Remove Rocketseed at cutover: delete the mail flow configuration (connector, transport rule) it set up in Exchange Online, per Rocketseed's documentation, to avoid duplicate signatures.
  7. Check the rendering on a few accounts (web, desktop, mobile) before cancelling Rocketseed.

What you lose by leaving Rocketseed

In all honesty, Rocketseed offers real features that ATOM does not have:

  • Server-side deployment with no add-in, which covers every device without relying on an installed add-in.
  • Managed setup and 24/7 support with a dedicated account manager.
  • Integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot and Google Analytics, and banner targeting by recipient.
  • Multi-brand and multi-domain, and Google Workspace and on-premises Exchange support.

For an organization that really uses these features, leaving Rocketseed means replacing them with another tool, or doing without.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my Rocketseed templates over to ATOM?

Yes. The ATOM visual editor offers "Import HTML": paste your Rocketseed template's code, then replace its dynamic fields with ATOM tokens (name, title, phone, etc.) so the data updates automatically via Microsoft Graph.

Do I need to remove Rocketseed before installing ATOM?

No, you can deploy the ATOM add-in while Rocketseed is still active to test the rendering. At cutover, however, remove Rocketseed's mail flow configuration in Exchange Online, per its documentation, to avoid two signatures being added to the same message.

How long does switching from Rocketseed to ATOM take?

It depends on how many templates you have and how complex your targeting is. The only guaranteed timeframe is the add-in deployment itself: Microsoft states up to 24 hours of propagation for a new centralized deployment.

What other alternatives to Rocketseed exist?

Depending on your priorities: CodeTwo (advanced marketing features, GDPR), Exclaimer (marketing suite and CRM integrations), Letsignit (digital business cards and presentations, European hosting), Signitic (low price for a small European team), WiseStamp (tiers and AI designer), Opensense (email tracking and integrations), or Microsoft 365's native signature for a minimal, static need.

Replace Rocketseed without email routing. ATOM Signatures automatically applies the right signature in Outlook, client-side, with 100% Canadian hosting and a rate of CAD $1 per user.
